An adventure in nine panels · No. 01

A perfectly ordinary
guild day.

SoLoRoC

One quick errand.
A rather longer story.

On the road from Eversong to Silvermoon, a guild adventurer discovers that the shortest route is not always the best story.

  1. Eversong · A road, not a race

A red-haired blood elf stands on a sunlit path beneath towering arches set with red crystals.

A new day. A fresh road. Absolutely no promise of a direct route.

“I’ll be back after one quest.”

Thaeios, making a note: Famous last words.

    Haïnwachsand 1
  2. The first distraction

A blood elf approaches a hunter in green and gold outside an ornate elven building among golden trees.

Rule i leaves room for a little sightseeing. And an appreciation of excellent armour.

    “Lovely kit. Still earning mine.”
    Pretty hunter
  3. Duskwither’s terrace

A shield-bearing blood elf stands beside Magister Duskwither as flames rise from the magister's hands.

The magister provides the demonstration. Our adventurer supplies the dramatic interpretation.

“Is this the quest… or the warning?”
    Extermination Thriïr
  4. Later · Silvermoon

A red-haired blood elf climbs pale stone steps beside Silvermoon's red banners and gold-trimmed architecture.

By the time the city comes into view, the errand has become a tale worth rehearsing.

    “Crazy? I LOVE crazy.”
    Crazy? I LOVE crazy.
  5. The tale · A dramatic flashback

A blood elf and a robed magister stand beside a burning brazier and telescope overlooking orange and red trees.

Back to the terrace. Some details may have acquired theatrical importance.

    “I was crazy once.”
    I was crazy once.
  6. The tale · An eyewitness

A blood elf with a golden shield faces Groundskeeper Wyllithen, who carries a spade, on an open stone terrace.

An open terrace. A groundskeeper with a spade. An entirely untroubled supply of fresh air.

“They locked me in a room.”
They locked me in a room.
  7. The tale · Artistic licence

A shield-bearing blood elf stands beside Magister Duskwither overlooking a winding path through golden trees.

The evidence suggests trees. The storyteller respectfully disagrees.

    “A rubber room with rats.”

Rule i: let them tell their story.

    A rubber room with rats.
  8. Silvermoon · Back to the present

Two armoured elves speak in a dark, gold-trimmed interior. One says: I know what you mean... they whisper about us when they think we can't hear them. They'll get theirs.

Even the city’s quiet corners have stories. This one can stay here; our traveller’s next party will be a guild one.

“My own tale’s quite enough. Homeward.”
    Secrets
  9. The last obstacle

A red-haired blood elf jumps in a sunny Silvermoon square in front of a large gold-and-red arcane construct.

One final leap. Rule iii still applies.

“No handouts? Then I’ll earn the jump, too.”

The errand is over. The story has only just joined the guild.

    Jumping Square
END OF THIS ERRAND

Guildlocked.
Not imagination-locked.
